ICEI is a non profit making association involved in international solidarity, development cooperation, research and training, based in Milan-Italy

ICEI was established in 1977, with the aim of opening a debate on East-West, and subsequently North-South issues. Since 1986 started to operate in developing countries and in 1991 was recognized as development INGO by the Italian Ministry of Foreign affairs

For over 20 years ICEI has been extensively active at the local and national levels in sensibilization on international issues such as: dialogue between different cultures, international relations, management of natural resources, international markets, debt, ethics and economics, women’s conditions, globalization...

ICEI has always preferred a development aid concept rather than mere emergency assistance; in this perspective, it strives to develop networks and synergies with existing local actors who are already oriented to protect and develop the potential of their territories.

ICEI designs its programmes in view of a specific objective that it deems important: promoting the growth of medium and small economic producers organized in associative/cooperative form in various sectors, such as agriculture, sustainable tourism, and training.

ICEI believes necessary to support any development intervention with a sensibilization and training action addressed to local populations in order to make the intervention itself understood, shared and therefore sustainable.

ICEI action is focused in the following areas: organic agriculture, sustainable tourism, enviroment and development, solidary economy, human rights, migration and interculture, globalization.
