Lagoon fisherman co- op society - Pottuvil
Pottuvil Grama Niladari Sea Fishermen Cooperative Society is an association based in Pottuvil, Hidayaypuram Village, and registered under the Cooperative Administration Department in Kalmunai. The association is composed of 160 members who are involved mainly in deep sea fishing activities. During the project implemented by ICEI and Sewalanka, the fishermen designed, together with the CEGA guides a Pottuvil lagoon safari, which is now active for the enjoyment of the tourists. The income coming from the safari is used to maintain the mangrove eco-system of the lagoon. |
women rural development society -Pasarchanai
is a women association based in Pottuvil Pasarachanai. It consists of 233 members involved in organic homestead garden programme , retail shop, sewing, poultry keeping, hopper making, ice cream & jam production, pottery production and met making activities. They assist their members for their income generation activities through micro credit system. |
